Government Reform

The government reform committee sees government reform as a broad-spectrum issue, that needs to be enacted throughout the political system. Particular concerns comprise voting rights, gerrymandering (or redistricting), motivating people to actually vote, campaign finance reform, the need to reframe the Democratic Party, and a set of idealogical values for the progressive movement that we can decisively act on in a real way. Internal education for the movement itself is paramount.

Action items to consider: a ballot measure designed to set up fair voting districts in Ohio, set for the 2017 November election, a bill put forth by a state representative in Ohio, Kathleen Clyde, to automatically register people in Ohio to vote, and educational outreach to potential voters.
